Copa Argentina: Boca Juniors reign supreme once again
Another triumph for the Buenos Aires giants
Boca Juniors have claimed their fifth Copa Argentina title after a thrilling victory over Talleres de Córdoba in the final.
The match was a tense affair, with both sides creating chances but neither able to break the deadlock in normal time. The game went to penalties, and Boca Juniors eventually prevailed 4-2.
It was a sweet victory for Boca Juniors, who had been knocked out of the competition at the semi-final stage in each of the past two seasons. The triumph also marked the end of a successful season for the Buenos Aires giants, who also won the Primera División title.
For Talleres de Córdoba, it was a disappointing end to a promising season. The club had reached the final for the first time in their history, but they were ultimately unable to overcome a more experienced and clinical Boca Juniors side.
The Copa Argentina is one of the most prestigious knockout competitions in South America. It is open to all clubs in the Argentine football pyramid, from the top-flight Primera División to the regional leagues.
Boca Juniors have now won the Copa Argentina more times than any other club. Their five titles are two more than the next most successful team, River Plate.
